BACKGROUND:

PERSONALITY: Born into the so-called highest tier of wizarding society, Draco has been raised in a life of wealth and privelege.

Arrogant and self-assured, he moves through the world with a confidence that he is right and anyone in oppositition is wrong. He is an elitist, believing himself to be better simply because he was born better. This behaviour he has taken from his father, who he has always believed to be the standard which Draco ought to copy.

He believes that purebloods, like himself, are actually superior to others,

Despite the confidence, Draco is a coward at heart- unwilling to deal with the threat of actual physical harm to his person. He's a typical bully; talented at finding weak spots in others he can exploit and needle. He sees this ability as more proof of his own superiority.

He feels no remorse for his actions- Draco has learnt to compartmentalise his emotions and life so that he can function in the world he's in. Having seen no pity and compassion in his father's dealings with others, Draco has shut down his own, and this helps him bully more effectively.

Much of what Draco does stems from an desire to gain his father's approval.

This independance leads Draco to feel very alone during his sixth year. He is unable to trust others with his issues and feels that it would be weak to do so in the first place.

Since joining the Death Eaters Draco has been much more subdued. He has a new arrogance that he was considered worthy to join their ranks. However his world has been shaken- he is no longer the center of the world, and there is doubt creeping in to his mind about his abilities and the 'glory' promised him as a Death Eater.

He is firmly ignoring the thought that he might not be on the 'right' side after all- his whole life has been built on it, his family follows it, he has dedicated his life to it. However Draco is afraid to fail, of the consequences for his family. And he's also too proud to change sides, afraid that even were he to, he would still not be enough.
